Imoke, Ahmed lead ADC presidential primary committees

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed former Cross River and Kwara governors, Liyel Imoke and Abdulfatah Ahmed, to lead its presidential primary committees.

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in Abuja, yesterday, said Imoke would chair the Presidential Screening Committee, while Ahmed would head the Presidential Election Committee.

Other members of the Presidential Screening Committee include Cyril Maduabum, Secretary, Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, Nnena Elendu-Ukeje, Prof. David Salifu and retired Col. Abubakar Ciroma.

The Presidential Election Committee has Prof. Yisa Gana as Secretary, alongside retired Maj.-Gen. Adamu Jalingo, Dr Auwalu Anwar, Chief Emenike Ikechi, Dr Macaulay Iyare, Tajudeen Bakare and others.

The party also constituted a Presidential Appeal Committee to be chaired by Dr Suleiman Usman, with Mr Ken Imasuagbon as Secretary, while Mr Dare Okerade serves as member.

For the governorship primaries, the party constituted two screening panels, with the first panel to be chaired by Shaibu Aruwa while Femi Olawuyi serves as Secretary.

Other members include Lauretta Onochie, Dr Vivian Ugochukwu, Akilu Indabawa, Ibrahim Wali and Prof. Rabiu Bello as members of the panel.

The second Governorship Screening Panel is to be chaired by Mrs Justina Abanida, with Chille Igbawua as Secretary and other designated members.

The members include Gerrard Irona, Sen. Yisa Braimoh, Hassan Ibrahim, Joseph Enemali and retired Navy Capt. Aliyu Ngolmo.

The party also approved two governorship appeals committees, with the first to be chaired by P.I. Oyewole, while Abdulhakeen Ibrahim serves as Secretary and Adah Usman as a member.

The second committee is to be chaired by M.E. Sheriff with Mr Realwan Okpanachi as Secretary and Hassan Yakubu as a member.

Abdullahi said the committees were carefully constituted to ensure transparency, credibility, fairness and internal democracy throughout the conduct of the party’s primaries.
