Imo youth group,under the aegis of the Peace and Integrity Forum (PIF) has lauded one of the Imo State police command special unit,the Tiger base for its commendable efforts in bursting kidnap and serious armed robbery cases in the State.
Coordinator of the youth group, Paul Dike in a statement he released to journalists noted that the operations of the unit under the command of ACP Oladimeji Adeyeyiwa has tremendously rescued and thwarted serious criminal cases.
“We, the Coalition of Imo Youth Stakeholders, appreciate the efforts of the police and other security agencies in restoring peace and security to our state. It is heartening to see the progress it has made, with drastic reduction in violent crime rate in the state ,as we can now walk freely at night while the name “Tiger base” frightens criminals because of how thorough this careful unit handle cases.
“The Coalition of Imo Youth Stakeholders is proud to support our security agencies and government in promoting the welfare of our youths. We are committed to working together to build a brighter future for Imo State.
Therefore , we are calling on our fellow young people to reject the false information and propaganda about Tiger Base and the Nigeria Police Force. Let’s focus on promoting peace, security, empowerment and development in our state.” He stated.

Meanwhile,the youths has kicked against those calling for the ban of the unit over allegations of human rights violation, extortion and extra judicial killings, describing them as real enemies of the State.
The Youths have also commended the efforts of the Imo state police command and other security agencies for restoring peace and security in the state.
Also the group has condemned the allegations of organ harvesting by the unit in the social media describing it as a cheap propaganda intended to smear the image of the unit .
Dike added “This vital unit which is led by ACP Oladimeji Adeyeyiwa is dedicated to keeping our state safe from kidnapping, terrorism, and other violent crimes and the false narratives and propaganda been spread against the unit is not true .
Therefore , we are calling on our fellow young people to reject the false information and propaganda about Tiger Base and the Nigeria Police Force. Let’s focus on promoting peace, security, empowerment and development in our state.” He stated.
The State police spokesperson, Henry Okoye had earlier conducted journalists round the office of the unit when the allegations went viral in the social media to see for themselves if such rumours were true.
