The Imo State Police Command says it has strengthened security across the state ahead of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) 2026.
The three-day conference is scheduled to take place from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, September 23, at the Landmark Event Centre, Owerri.
The conference, themed “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections”, is expected to attract senior police officers, strategic managers of the Nigeria Police Force and other dignitaries from across the country.
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Garba Bosso, said personnel have been deployed to the venue, designated hotels, major routes, the airport route and other strategic locations to ensure a hitch-free event.

He said officers deployed have been directed to maintain professionalism, uphold the rule of law and respect citizens’ rights.
According to the Command, Police Traffic Wardens have also been deployed to strategic points to regulate traffic and ensure smooth movement. Motorists and residents have been urged to cooperate with personnel on duty.
The Command, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, on Sunday, welcomed all participants to Imo State and assured residents and visitors of a peaceful and secure environment throughout the event.
It, however, warned criminally minded persons to steer clear of the venue and other strategic locations, stating that anyone found engaging in criminal activities would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
