The Imo State Police Command has strengthened security ahead of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) 2026.
The three-day conference is scheduled to hold from Monday, September 21 to Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre, Owerri.
The conference, with the theme, “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections,” is expected to attract senior police officers, strategic managers of the Nigeria Police Force and other dignitaries from across the country.
Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Garba Bosso, said personnel had been deployed to the venue, designated hotels, major routes, the airport route and other strategic locations to ensure a hitch-free event.

He directed the deployed officers to maintain professionalism, uphold the rule of law and respect the rights of citizens throughout the conference.
The command also said Police Traffic Wardens had been deployed to strategic points to regulate traffic and ensure smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
It urged motorists and residents to cooperate with security personnel deployed for the event.
In a statement signed by the command’s spokesman, DSP Okoye Henry, on Sunday, the police welcomed participants to Imo State and assured residents and visitors of a peaceful and secure environment throughout the conference.
The command, however, warned criminally minded persons to stay away from the conference venue and other strategic locations, stressing that anyone caught engaging in criminal activities would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
