The Imo State Police Command said it has strengthened security across the state, ahead of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers, (CARSPO) 2026.
The three-day conference is scheduled to be held from today to Wednesday, at the Landmark Event Centre, Owerri.
The conference, themed “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections,” is expected to attract senior police officers, strategic managers of the Nigeria Police Force and other dignitaries from across the country.

Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, Garba Bosso, said personnel have been deployed to the venue, designated hotels, major routes, airport route, and other strategic locations to ensure a hitch-free event. He said officers deployed have been directed to maintain professionalism, uphold the rule of law, and respect citizens’ rights.
The Command said Police Traffic Wardens have also been deployed to strategic points to regulate traffic and ensure smooth movement. Motorists and residents have been urged to cooperate with personnel on duty.
The Command, in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, yesterday, welcomed all participants to Imo State and assured residents and visitors of a peaceful and secure environment throughout the event.
It, however, warned criminally minded persons to steer clear of the venue and other strategic locations, stating that anyone found engaging in criminal activities will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
