The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) said it is opening its doors to political parties across the country to join its fold, boasting that as a new party without litigation, it will be successful in the 2027 general election.

National Vice Chairman of the party, South East, Chief Teddy Obey, gave the assurance while speaking to journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital. He affirmed that Nigerians are tired of recycled promises.

“Nigeria is looking for a clean, uncompromised platform. That platform is NDC,” Obey said.

Explaining why he believes NDC is the party to beat, he added: “First of all, today, we’re the newest political party in Nigeria and the only party without palpable litigation hanging on its neck. Go and check. Others are in court dragging who owns their souls. We’re in the field building our structure. A house divided against itself can’t stand. A house without a court case can stand.”

Earlier, while explaining his visit to the state, Obey said: “We’re hosting this meeting at this neutral venue to achieve two things. First, to address grievances openly. Secondly, to avert any suspicion of compromise. NDC is a new party and we must show Nigerians that we’re different.”

Meanwhile, Obey has named Reginald Uwakwe as the interim chairman of the party in Imo State. Fabian Onyekwulisi was appointed contact and mobilisation committee chairman as well as head of the candidate selection processes committee.
