From Stanley Uzoaru, Owerri

The State Executive Council (SEC) of the Labour Party (LP) in Imo State has passed a vote of confidence on the National Chairman of the Party, Julius Abure, and his executive members for what it described as their peaceful conduct of the party so far.

The motion for their vote of confidence was moved by the Local Government chairman from Isiala Mbano, Nkechi Azike, and seconded by the woman leader for Orlu zone, Blessing Silver. Other members of the party also voiced their votes unanimously in support.

Similarly, the SEC and members of the party commended the state chairman of the party, Callistus Ihejiagwa, and his exco members for diligently piloting the affairs of the party with a vote of confidence.

Also, the SWC of the party has suspended Paulinus Udechukwu, Emeka Ihejirika, legal adviser of the party, and twenty-eight other members of the party for three months for alleged indiscipline, insubordination, and attempts to instigate crisis through their actions.

Meanwhile, the party knocked Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State over the harsh economic situation in the state, urging him to expedite actions in quelling the plight of residents in the state.

Addressing repoters after the meeting, Ihejiagwa claimed the governor and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), need to improve on providing the dividends of democracy for the people of the state.
