The people of Amaimo, Umukabia in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State are calling on the government to rescue them from the suffering caused by the deplorable state of their major road.

Briefing journalists on the state of the road which connects Isiala Mbano headquarters, Ikpem, Imo River, and Okigwe town, a community leader from the area, Nnorom Christian, disclosed that the road has become a hazard to life, causing frequent accidents and mechanical issues.

He lamented that the road has been neglected for years, leading to economic hardship, increased transportation costs, and limited access to healthcare and education.

Nnorom, on behalf of the community, appealed to the Federal and Imo State governments, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), senators representing Imo State, NGOs, churches, and other faith-based organizations to intervene and rehabilitate the road.

He also disclosed that the deplorable state of the road hah forced students of the community to abandon their schools.

“We are suffering a lot in my community. Our students can no longer go to school as a result of the bad road which connects so many places. We can’t even access our bridge – it has been overgrown with weeds because nobody takes that route anymore. It’s a big risk plying that road. We are willing to partner anybody that can help in the development of our community,” Nnorom said.

The community is also seeking support for clean water, electricity, agriculture, commerce, healthcare, and education.
