As Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus christ on Sunday (Easter), Acting Chairman, Christian Association Nigeria (CAN), Imo State Chapter, Reverend Uzoma Uzoeshi, has attributed the coincidence of the Muslims’ Ramadan and Christians’ Lent to a sign of God’s love, encouraging people to reflect on their faith and promote peace.
Uzoeshi, in a chat with Daily Sun, said, “Both Ramadan and Lent are significant events. In Islam, Ramadan is a period of spiritual reflection, fasting, and devotion; same as in Christianity, but you can also agree with me that coincidentally, they may have occurred naturally. When it happens like this, it’s a reminder of God’s love for people to reflect in gratitude and deepen our faith in God.
“We should use the two events to promote peace. It also symbolises special transformation and renewal of our hearts to God, and repentance from our sins against God and humanity.
Also speaking about the relationship, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State said: “The state government has been wonderful in its cordial relationship with the leadership of CAN, and I am grateful to our governor, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma. There is a cordial relationship between our governor and the religious body, the church of God, in Imo.

“He has been supporting the church and CAN in our religious programmes. During the recent celebration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of Imo State, I was nominated as one of the members of the committee for the event. Let me say that the government, under the leadership of our dear governor, is running an all inclusive system of government.
“I’m also happy that the event started with inter-denominational service of which I was the chairman of the planning committee. His Excellency has been a friendly governor to the church; he attends to the church’s needs because he prioritises his love first to God. I’ve been privileged to attend church services in his home town and they’re wonderful.
He has continually demonstrated his love for God and observed his religious obligations.
“He has continuously supported and sponsored pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan, sponsoring thousands since three years now. We thank God for him because other Christian governors are not doing so. He has promoted interfaith relationships in Imo State and is a generous and working governor.
“We’re happy for the massive constructions and developments going on in the state. The church will continue to pray for him and the progress, security, and peace going on in Imo State”, Uzoeshi said.
