The Importers Association of Nigeria (IMAN) has appointed Chief Ndubisi George Ugo as its National President, with the new leadership taking immediate effect.
The association’s Board of Trustees (BoT), which announced the appointment, said the decision was based on his record of service and contributions to the growth and administration of the association.
Ugo, who previously served as IMAN’s national vice chairman, succeeds in the leadership position following a decision communicated by the Board in a letter dated July 21.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chief Gilbert E. Obi said Ugo’s appointment was informed by his pedigree, dedication, hard work, outstanding contributions and administrative expertise.
According to Obi, Ugo distinguished himself during his tenure as National Vice Chairman and demonstrated the experience and leadership capacity required to steer the affairs of the association.
In his new capacity, he is expected to oversee the administration of IMAN and provide strategic direction towards advancing the interests of importers and other members across the country.
The Board said the leadership change had been formally communicated to relevant government agencies, trade unions, maritime practitioners, trade facilitators and international trade partners.
Obi expressed confidence that his appointment would strengthen unity and stability within the association while positioning IMAN for sustained growth and greater effectiveness in representing the interests of importers.
He called on members and stakeholders in the maritime and trade sectors to support the new president and provide the cooperation necessary for him to successfully discharge his responsibilities.
The Board congratulated Ugo on his appointment and wished him a successful tenure as National President of the Importers Association of Nigeria.
