• Aina reacts to Awoniyi’s departure to Coventry City
Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has reacted to the departure of his compatriot Taiwo Awoniyi to Coventry City, BSNSports reports.
Awoniyi left Nottingham Forest for newly promoted Coventry City during the summer transfer window, bringing an end to his spell at the City Ground.
The striker’s departure means Aina is now without his Nigerian teammate at Forest, but the defender says his focus remains on enjoying his football and helping the club.
Speaking to Ratings, Aina revealed that he personally sent Awoniyi a message following his move and expressed his happiness for the striker.
“Yeah, I’m alone now. I just want to keep playing and enjoying my football. That’s the main thing for me,” Aina said.
“I messaged him personally that day. It was a personal note I sent to him. I was so happy for him. It’s between us, and I hope we can have a good season,” he added.
