Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has reassured Abians that despite economic challenges in the country, he will not disappoint the people.
Ikpeazu said although the recession has affected finances of the state by extension, he was optimistic that his government has the ability to meet some pressing needs of Abians.
He stated this in Umuahia when he delivered the country’s 56th independence anniversary speech.
The governor described the independence anniversary of the nation as “56 years of challenges and triumphs, which Nigerians should be thankful to God for,” and urged “Nigerians to continue in prayers for the country and her leaders especially now that the nation is going through serious socio-economic challenges.”
Ikpeazu said since the Federal Government declared the economy is in recession, “it is obvious that everyone is experiencing serious economic challenges.
“From shortfall in revenue accruing to component states of the Federation to other macro-economic challenges, the truth remains that these are tough times for citizens of our great nation. However, we are confident that it will not last long. This, too, shall pass. We will look inwards, dig deep and leverage on our comparative advantages to overcome our trials,” Ikpeazu said.
He added that his government is confident that, as a people, they have the means and the enablement to overcome the most serious of our challenges.
“We will look inwards, dig deep and leverage on our comparative advantages to overcome our trials,” he assured.
I’ll meet your needs, Ikpeazu tells Abians
