Ikukundu Leadership Empowerment and Progress Foundation (ILEAP) has pledged support for Governor Hope Uzodimma’s re-election bid.
Its Executive Director, Iyke Anyanwu, made the commitment while welcoming the governor to the 2023 Iri Ji Mbaise festival.
He said: “His commitment to development and his vision for our great state have earned our trust and admiration. We will remember and reciprocate his good work with massive support during the gubernatorial election. Our cherished New Yam celebration, the Iri Ji Mbaise Festival is a profound symbol of our community’s rich cultural heritage, a time when we come together to honor tradition and celebrate the new yam harvest.”
He added: “We extend our deepest appreciation to Governor Uzodimma, the special guest of honour in this new yam celebration festival, for his transformational leadership, especially his focus on key developmental projects such as the reconstruction of the Owerri-Mbaise-Obowo-Umuahia express road.”
He said the landmark initiative has positively impacted the community, fostered economic growth and enhanced their movement and connectivity.
“Governor Uzodimma’s dedication to the welfare of Imo State is truly commendable. His policies and projects resonate with the values of unity, progress, and empowerment that we hold dear at ILEAP.”
He described the governor’s participation and commendation of the Mbaise people in their Iri Ji festival as a demonstration of his commitment to cultural preservation and the promotion of unity in the state as well as underscored the importance of peaceful coexistence and the role of cultural festivals in fostering harmony and development.
The highlight of the event was the traditional rites of Iwa Ji which the governor participated in, alongside the traditional rulers of Mbaise community.
Governor Uzodimma, in his remarks, emphasised that the Iri Ji festival is not just a cultural celebration, but an opportunity for the Mbaise people to showcase their rich heritage and promote unity.
He encouraged the people of Mbaise to continue to preserve their traditions and pass them on to future generations.
