Nigeria’s leading producers of alcoholic beverages, IKI Leads Limited, recently reiterated that it will continue to be at the forefront of driving the made-in-Nigeria initiative.

This came after the company unveiled three additional brands, making it a total of eight alcoholic beverages in the market.

The three newest products include; Pasa Bitters Premium Herbal Liquor, Poloclub Chocolate Vodka and Meridian Club Cream.

Speaking to Daily Sun on the sidelines of the launch in Lagos, the company’s Managing Director, Ikechukwu Onwunali, noted that the new products were brewed and distilled in line with the world’s best tradition and procedures, adding that this was done in order to promote the made-in-Nigeria narrative.

“We are excited with what is happening quite here today. Indeed this is 11 years of robust business for us and we can say that we are close to fulfilling our vision mandate which says that we want to be the most innovative and reliable alcoholic beverage company in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.

I am also proud to announce that the company’s mission of selling the highest quality alcoholic beverages so as to create value and make a difference by nourishing, satisfying and delighting our customers has been achieved looking at the array of products we have on display”, Onwunali stated.

He expressed confidence that the new products will help lift the business to a promising and rewarding level and assured Nigerians that the company will continue to churn out products of the highest standards in terms of content and packaging.

He said, “Few of the materials we used in manufacturing the products were sourced locally while others were largely imported through partnership with our foreign partners”.

When quizzed on the current scarcity of FX in the country, Onwunali blamed the scarcity on the weak disposition of the economy and called on the government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to see ways of making foreign exchange available for manufacturers.

“It is a very big challenge for us at the moment. We just hope and pray the economy gets better and when it does, the government needs to do more to promote the made-in-Nigeria narrative so that we can start being a producing country. The fact that we import a lot of things more than we export is not quite good.

We are introducing products which are made locally with soothing qualities for every family be it the rich, middle class and the low class income earners in Nigeria. We are proud to be leading this initiative and we will continue to be proud of championing that cause”, the MD said.
