No fewer than 500 residents from the Nnobi community in the Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State have received bags of rice from Anambra-born, Lagos-based business mogul, Chief Hamilton Ezeonu.

Ezeonu, who is also the Ikemba Idemili, stated that the gesture shows his dedication to easing residents’ economic and emotional burdens, especially during festive occasions like the Easter celebration.

He added that it is one of his ways to show love, as the Easter celebration, which is a time of love, sacrifice, and new hope, demands giving back to society.

While distributing the items to the widows at Sahara Ikemba Idemili Center on Friday, Ezeonu said, “We have to thank God Almighty for all the wonderful things He has been doing in our life in the year 2026.”

He emphasized that the time of the Nnobi community has come. “I pray God gives me more resources because I have bigger plans for my people,” he added.

Reacting to the gesture, the happy traditional ruler of Nnobi Community, HRM Igwe Engr Nick Obi, while performing his kolanut rituals and prayers, praised Ikemba for his magnanimity and generosity.

Igwe Nick Obi noted that such acts of kindness strengthen communal bonds and reflect the true spirit of leadership. He prayed for continued blessings upon Chief Ezeonu and urged other sons and daughters of Nnobi to contribute to the growth of the community.

In their separate remarks, the Mayor of Idemili South Local Government, Hon Amaka Obi, and the incoming Mayor, Hon Oluchukwu Ilogbenu, commended the philanthropist for remembering the people at the grassroots during a time of economic strain.

They further called on other entrepreneurs and well-meaning individuals to emulate such gestures, stressing that such generosity and collective efforts are necessary to address societal challenges, ameliorate the effects of the hard times on the less privileged members of the society, while also making the society a better place to live.

The President General of Nnobi Community, Chief Sir Aloy Olubialu, applauded Hamilton Ezeonu, a son of the soil, for his steadfastness in empowering communities and changing people’s lives in his hometown.

A stakeholder, Chief Gozie Akudolu (Eziisi Ugonabo) described Ikemba Idemili as an amazing young man who is always willing to help his people. He added that the gesture was replicated last year and again this year. He prayed that God will reward the host abundantly.

Some of the beneficiaries, Mrs Clara Umeh, Mrs Udogu Ifenyinwa and Mr Okoye Tochukwu, noted that the donation came at the right time and would go a long way in supporting their families at this period of biting economic hardship. They expressed deep gratitude to Chief Ezeonu and prayed for greater prosperity in his business and personal life.
