Goals from Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels handed the Scottish champions a comfortable first-half advantage in a largely one-sided encounter. However, Dunfermline, managed by former Celtic midfielder Neil Lennon, responded with greater intensity after the break.
Introduced as a substitute, Iheanacho appeared to put the result beyond doubt in the 73rd minute when he added Celtic’s third goal. Although Josh Cooper reduced the deficit six minutes later, Celtic maintained control to seal another major trophy.
The triumph marked Celtic’s ninth consecutive victory and capped an impressive run of form that proved decisive in both league and cup competitions. The Hoops edged out Heart of Midlothian F.C. in the title race before claiming their 43rd Scottish Cup crown.
For veteran manager Martin O’Neill, the victory represented yet another milestone in a glittering career. The 74-year-old now boasts nine major honours as Celtic manager across two spells spanning 26 years. If this proves to be his final game in management, it was a fitting farewell as he guided the Glasgow giants to another memorable success against his former player Lennon.
