Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has completed a move to Turkish second-tier club Bursaspor, ending his brief spell with Scottish champions Celtic ahead of the new season.

Bursaspor confirmed the signing of the 29-year-old on Friday through a dramatic AI-generated video shared on the club’s official X account, welcoming the former Super Eagles forward to the team.

The move comes after Bursaspor secured promotion to Turkey’s second division by winning the country’s third-tier league last season as the club seeks to strengthen its squad for the upcoming campaign.

Iheanacho joins the Turkish outfit as a free agent after leaving Celtic, where he helped the Glasgow club win the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double last season while scoring nine goals in all competitions.

The former Leicester City striker had joined Celtic after the 2025 summer transfer window closed following an unsuccessful spell with Spanish side Sevilla.

Although reports suggested Celtic were willing to extend his stay for another season, Iheanacho opted for a fresh challenge in Turkey.

The transfer marks another move in a turbulent period of the forward’s career. Over the last two years, he has featured for Sevilla, Middlesbrough on loan, Celtic and now Bursaspor as he looks to revive his career with regular first-team football.

The former Manchester City academy graduate will now be expected to spearhead Bursaspor’s promotion push as the club aims for a return to the Turkish top flight.
