Benue State Police Command has clamped down on over 25 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, recovering live ammunition in Gbagiri Zaki-Biam in Ukum Local Government. Commissioner of Police, Mr Ifeanyi Emenari, told the Inspector General of Police (IGP) conference in Abuja:
“I have sent a strong signal to criminals to relocate from the state. We will deal decisively with anyone found disrupting the peace or violating law. They will face the wrath of the law. I want to give kudos on how they apply professionalism in carry out their duties.
“The command acting on credible intelligence mobilised and deployed officers in Tse Dubem, Ukum LG. Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested two suspected armed Fulani herdsmen in Edikwukho, Apa LG.
“Police in Otukpo Division, Operation Whirl Operation Stroke, DSS and Beune State Civil Protection Guards arrested suspect Fulani herdsmen grazing their cattle and destroyed seven hectares of cassava, one hectare of plantain, hectares of rice chaff prepared as cow feeds and cashew farm all estimated at millions of naira.

“Anti-Cult Patrol on patrol mounted a stop-and-search operation in Wurukum, Makurdi metropolis, arrested three suspects and recovered locally fabricated guns with two cartridges. Police in Katsina-Ala Division arrested 10 suspects. Armed Fulani herder-bandits were arrested at Anyagba village when they opened fire on the patrol team.
“Police in Daudu Division and arrested 13 suspects with dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Operatives in Makurdi Division with Patrol Team, Zenda JFT, Anti-Cult and Cybercrime Patrol foiled a kidnapping and rescued two victims.
“Police in Naka Division arrested a 19-year-old and a truck loaded with slaughtered rustled cows was impounded.”
