IGP presents N2.2bn cheques to 613, families of deceased police officers

The inspector-general of police(IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, Thursday presented a total of N2.276,110,966, Settlement Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme benefits, to 613 families of police officers who died in active service.

The life assurance scheme which is being funded by the federal government while the IGP family welfare scheme is funded by the Nigeria Police Force, is the insurance benefits is for the insured periods of 2020/2021, and 2022/2023 under the Group Life Assurance policy years.

Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries at a ceremony held at the police force headquarters in Abuja, the IGP charged them to make good use the money for the benefit of the families left behind by the deceased officers.

The IGP, while noting that the gesture was part of the police efforts to sympathise with the families of the deceased and also to upkeep their day-to-day life challenges, said the presentation is the third since he assumed office.
