Niger State Police Command has arrested over 62 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers and child traffickers. Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adamu Elleman, told the Inspector General of Police (IGP) conference in Abuja:
“The command will intensify efforts to curb crime and criminality. Officers should be professional against the use of torture in conducting investigations on suspects. The command has heightened security measures ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“Use, sale and distribution of fireworks, bangers and other explosive devices remain strictly prohibited. Offenders will be arrested and prosecuted. There is joint surveillance and intelligence sharing operations are ongoing to prevent security breaches. DPOs and area commanders are to reinforce intelligence gathering mechanism, deepen community policing frameworks through sustained citizens engagement to ensure lawful and professional protection of vulnerable communities.

“Operatives attached to Tudun-Wada Division arrested 23 suspected thugs in Minna. They encountered the suspects in Abdulsalem Quarters, Anguan’Kaje, Maitumbi, Sabon-Titi and Tunga. Police neutralised robbery suspect dressed in a military uniform at the checkpoint near Numbawa-Malamkaro.
“Operatives rescued a two-year-old girl in Delta state, sold twice for N6.6 million in Abuja. They arrested eight suspects involved in child trafficking. Police operatives attached to Paiko Division intercepted a stolen vehicle, an unregistered Lexus Jeep from Lagos, recovered it and arrested two suspects. Bosso Division arrested eight suspects for criminal trespass and theft.
“Police from Kpakungu Division arrested suspects who specialised in snatching phones in Tayi village farm centre, Tunaga and Kpakongu area in Minna. Police attached to A Division, Kontagora, arrested 10 suspected thugs in an operation at Tudun-Wada, Kontagora.
“Operatives attached to the Maje Division intercepted and arrested two suspects. Police at Chanchaga Division intercepted two suspects in Minna with a Bajaj motorcycle. Also, Bosso Police Division arrested three suspects for conspiracy, criminal trespass and house breaking in Shannu village via Bosso with N60,000 and two stolen phones valued at over N400,000.”
