IGP Confab: Taraba police arrest 15 suspected criminals –CP

Commissioner of Police, Taraba State, Morkwap Dongshal, said the command has arrested 15 suspected criminals. He told the Inspector General of Police Conference in Abuja: “We will not relent in our efforts to rid Taraba of criminals. Our officers remain committed to pursuing justice with diligence and integrity. I have charged officers to rise up to the task and flush out the criminals.

“The command is implementing community policing applying professionalism when operatives are carrying out their duties. I have advised them on discipline, professionalism and integrity as core values every officer must uphold. Subordination will not be tolerated under my leadership.

“This year will be too hot for hoodlums to operate. I have visited tactical team operatives. The command will continue to demonstrate resilience in safeguarding life and property.

“IGP Olatunji Disu dedicated this year’s National Police Day to the fallen heroes who gave their best to serve their fatherland, serving and retired police officers, stakeholders and the people for their valuable support.

“We did sanitation and clearing with members of the public in Jalingo. We also had medical outreach and a walk-out. We appreciate the public for turning for participating in the exercise. This is part of community policing and having good relationship with the public.

“I visited the flashpoints in Takum and Donga, Lau, Yorro, Ardo Kola and Takum LGs, reinforcing security collaboration between the police and the public, including stakeholders, to ensure a safer state.

“In Kofai Ahmadu and Chanchanji, we engaged with security stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community elders, youth leaders and other critical members of the community. The engagement was aimed at obtaining first-hand information on the security challenges in their areas and strengthening the partnership between the police and the community to achieve lasting peace.   

“Operatives arrested two suspects who hail from Akente, Donga LGA and recovered three stolen service firearms. Police attached to Zing Division intercepted a motorcycle en route to Ganye LG, Adamawa State. We recovered 304 rounds of live cartridges in their possession. Twelve suspected armed robbers were arrested. We have charged some of the suspects to court.

“I have warned officers to shun corruption and illegal duty. They should cultivate good relationship with the public and respect the rights of the citizens.

“The IGP has repeatedly expressed his unequivocal stance on professionalism, discipline, respect for the rights and dignity of citizens, public trust, and enthroning a people-centred policing system.

“The command remains committed to professionalism and respect for human rights and adherence to the rule of law in all its operations. This is in line with the vision of the IGP.”
