IGP confab: How we arrested 90 suspected kidnappers, robbers –Niger CP

Commissioner of Police, Niger State, Mr. Abduallhi Adamu Elleman, says the command will get rid of criminals, after arresting over 90 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists. He spoke at the Inspector General of Police (IGP) conference in Abuja.

He said: “We are smoking criminals out of the state. The ‘ember’ months will be hard for them to operate. I visited some black spots and redeployed tactical team operatives. We have imbibed community policing. I advised officers on discipline, professionalism and integrity, as core values officers must uphold. Insubordination will not be tolerated.

“Operatives arrested 32 suspected thugs in Minna, including three notorious kingpins and one escaped inmate. Operatives in Maikunkele Division arrested two suspected assassins at railway crossing in Beji, Maikunkele, Bosso LG. They were hired to assassinate a victim. 

“Anti-Thuggery Squad operatives stormed Soje A, Soje B and Kpakungu. During the sting operation arrested nine suspects and recovered two stolen solar batteries, five knives, cutlasses and a dagger.

“Operatives attached to Shiroro Division based on intelligence arrested a suspect in his compound in Zumba and recovered two bags of cannabis. Two suspected illegal immigrants were arrested at Fadikpe, Minna, by operatives of GRA Division.

“Police at Tundun-Wada Division arrested a female suspect for attempted culpable homicide of fellow tenant with hot water, causing grievous hurt. Six suspects were arrested for conspiracy, vandalism and theft of an electric transformer.

In Suleja, police arrested four suspects after storming an illegal mining site around the Mechanic OYPE-Pass. They recovered three diggers, six shovels and 10 head-pans. Operatives arrested 16 suspected armed robbers who attacked victims at Fadama Mandela, Sauka-Kahuta, Minna. We recovered handsets screw drivers, knives and cutlasses.

Also in Suleja, eight cartons of pharmaceutical products, including Amodiaquine, Sulfadoxine and Pyrimethamine were recovered. A 23-year-old sales girl was arrested for stealing mobile phones and N20million from her employer’s shop at Obasanjo Commercial Complex, Minna.

“Operatives of A Division arrested three notorious gang leaders in Minna. They have been terrorising Angwan-Daji, Limawa New Market and Maitumbi.”
