Commissioner of Police, Benue State, Cletus Nwadiogbu, has said that the time is up for kidnappers and armed robbers. He told the Inspector General of Police [IGP] Conference in Abuja: “We have arrested 15 suspected criminals from their hideouts.
“The command has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and properties. The command has continued to intensify efforts in combating crime through proactive policing, intelligence gathering and swift response to distress calls.
“It will be too hard for hoodlums to carry out their operations. I visited some black spots and redeployed tactical team operatives to Benue-Lafia Expressway and Benue-Jos Expressway. The command has imbibed community policing.
“I have warned officers against the use of torture in conducting investigations on suspects. We have charged some of the suspects to court, while others are under various stages of investigation. We apply professionalism, transparency in upholding the rule of law, which has restored public confidence and improved security in the state.
“Benue State has recorded significant milestones in combating violent crimes, dismantling criminal syndicates, fostering community policing and enhancing collaboration with sister security agencies and stakeholders. With the cooperation of the citizens and support of government, the state is calm. We have updated professional capacity of officers in line with global procurement and addressed skill gaps caused by outdated or neglected procedures.

“Operatives at Gbeji Division, with members of the community volunteer guards engaged in gun duel with armed bandits along Vaase-Chito Road. Three armed bandits were killed. “I have visited traditional rulers and encouraged them to reinforce security collaboration with the police and all other stakeholders to ensure a safer state.”
