Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi State, Mrs. Anthonia Uche Anya, has said that the command arrested over 150 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers, murderers and cultists. She spoke at the Inspector General of Police (IGP) conference in Abuja: “My vision is to focus on proactive initiatives designed to deny safe haven to criminal elements.
“The command has undertaken a comprehensive reassessment of its crime prevention strategies, with community policing serving as the foundation element of the approach.
“I want to give kudos to officers for waging war against criminals in the state and arresting over 150 suspects for various crimes between July and mid-September 2025. I visited some black spots and redeployed some tactical team operatives. The command has imbibed community policing.
“I have charged officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, dedication, integrity and transparency in the course of their duties. They should also shun corruption and illegal duties.
“We want to thank Governor Francis Nwifuru for fighting criminals, especially kidnappers and cultists. We appreciate his support by providing us with operational vehicles with other sister security agencies to flush out hoodlums from the state.

“Police tactical team raided hideouts on Abakaliki-Enugu Expressway, Abakaliki-Port Harcourt Expressway and arrested suspected kidnappers. Operatives of Afikpo Division arrested three suspected armed robbers terrorising Akpoba autonomous community in Afikpo LG and recovered AK-47 rifles and 20 rounds of ammunition.
