Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the appointment of Mr Tunji Disu as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Describing Disu as a thorough bread police officer, Igboho said Disu’s experience will help in fighting crime in the country.
He also expressed optimism that the new acting IGP’s previous strategic appointments and educational background will serve as catalyst to revitalize the Nigeria Police Force.

Accompanied by a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG),Taiwo Lakano and the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Olushola Alao, Igboho canvassed support for the re-election of Tinubu in 2027, saying “Nigerians irrespective of ethnic, religious and political divides should be united in supporting the progressive socioeconomic growth of the nation.”
While appreciating the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) and other paramilitary agencies for their efforts in securing the country, Igboho restated his commitment to effective partnership in the nation’s security sector.
A statement released by Igboho after the visit reads: “During the meeting, we discussed key issues regarding security and peace in the South West and Nigeria in general. I assured our host of my readiness and commitment to synergise in ensuring a safe and secured Yoruba land if given approval by President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government.
“Without peaceful and enabling atmosphere in the society, we cannot achieve any meaningful growth for our country. That is the more reason everyone should cooperate with the government at all levels to guarantee peace and tranquility in Nigeria.
“Various issues affecting South West were painstakingly discussed and solutions proffered. For the sake of peace, I want to affirm my position that the Igbos should present a common front to midwife the release of the leader, Independent People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently serving life jail in Sokoto Correctional facility,” the statement concluded.
