Igbo youths under the umbrella of the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has congratulated Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on his decisive win in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary for Abia North ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a press release issued immediately after the primary and signed by the President General and Secretary, Goodluck Ibem and Okey Nworu respectively , the apex sociopolitical youth body in the South East described Kalu’s victory as “overwhelming and well-deserved.” According to the results cited by COSEYL, the senator polled 65,651 votes, defeating his challenger who secured 2,103 votes.

The group said the margin reflected the confidence and trust constituents have in Kalu’s representation. “The result is not merely an electoral triumph but a loud endorsement of purposeful leadership, impactful representation, and transformational service delivery,” COSEYL stated.

The organization highlighted several projects and programs it attributed to Kalu, including the construction and rehabilitation of roads across Arochukwu, Ohafia, Bende, Isuikwuato, and Umunneochi local government areas. It also pointed to rural electrification projects and the installation of solar-powered street lights, saying they had improved security and supported businesses.

COSEYL further noted Kalu’s empowerment initiatives targeting youths, women, artisans, traders, and farmers. These included the distribution of grants, motorcycles, tricycles, sewing machines, generators, laptops, and agricultural inputs. The group said the efforts had helped reduce unemployment and promote self-reliance in Abia North.

The youth leaders also credited Kalu with investments in education through scholarships, bursaries, and the renovation and construction of school facilities.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission, Kalu has continued to attract federal projects and investments to the region, COSEYL added.

The group said the outcome of the primary showed that “leadership anchored on performance, compassion, and tangible development will always earn the support and loyalty of the people,” and urged the senator to maintain his current pace of service.
