Igbo youths applaud Kalu’s advocacy for electronic transmission

The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has commended Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for his passionate advocacy for electronic transmission of election results during a recent emergency plenary session of the Senate.

President General of the youth group, Goodluck Ibem, in a statement he issued to journalists in Owerri, emphasised that the Abia North senator has demonstrated exceptional statesmanship by endorsing the amended Clause 60(3) of the Electoral Act, paving the way for a more transparent, credible, and modern electoral process in Nigeria.

He added, “His commitment to leveraging technology to safeguard the sanctity of votes, while ensuring no Nigerian is left behind, is commendable and visionary”.

Ibem said Senator Kalu’s balanced approach reflects a deep understanding of Nigeria’s diverse realities, ensuring citizens in rural and underserved communities are not disenfranchised.

The group recognised Senator Kalu as a true defender of democracy and urged other lawmakers to emulate his example.

Meanwhile, COSEYL has pledged to mobilise its members and the public to support initiatives promoting free, fair, and credible elections, calling on the National Assembly and relevant agencies to ensure swift implementation of the amendment with adequate investment in infrastructure and training.
