Moved by his desire to ensure that peace reigns among Ndigbo in his domain, the Council of Igbo Leaders in Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commended the Oniba Ekun of Iba Kingdom, Oba Sulaimon Adeshina Raji-Ashade’s intervention on some issues affecting the Igbo community.
One of the Oba’s moves is to look into the claim by Chief Emeka Onuoha that he wants to celebrate his proposed one-year anniversary as Eze Ndigbo of Igbo-Elerin and also the New Yam festival (Iriji)
Addressing the Igbo leaders after listening to the delegation from Ezeudo Ndigbo of Iba LCDA, Eze John Greg Ezebuadi, and Obi Igboelerin, Chief Emeka Onuoha, the Oniba Ekun of Iba Kingdom, stated that Onuoha is not the Eze Ndigbo but Obi of Igbo Elerin.
He also said Onuoha should not be called, addressed, or referred to as Eze Ndigbo.
The Royal father also said only one person is recognized as Eze Ndigbo of Iba LCDA and that John Greg Ezebuiadi is the recognized Eze Ndigbo of Iba LCDA.
He added that anybody could celebrate an Iriji, and that Onuoha, being a chief is allowed to go ahead with his event (New Yam Festival) scheduled for Sunday, November 19, 2023.
The Oniba Ekun urged Ndigbo in Iba LCDA to maintain peace at all times.
