Igbo group mourns Iwuanyanwu

Association of Igbo cultural leaders in the Diaspora has described the death of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo world-wide, as an irreparable loss to the Igbo nation in particular and Nigeria in general.

Speaking while reacting to the sad news, the National Chairman of the group, High Chief Aloy Obi said that with the death of Iwuanyanwu, an iroko has fallen in the country.

Obi who is also the leader of the Igbo in Ibadan in particular and Oyo State in general said that Chief Iwuanyanwu was a great leader of the Igbo who spent the last years of his life serving his people.

According to him, Iwuanyanwu had for decades been a force to be reckoned with in business, politics and sports.

His words: “ He lived the last years of his illustrious life serving his people, Ndigbo, that is,  after playing a dominant role in national politics and as an entrepreneur of international repute.

“It is a rare thing, something everybody hankers for to return home at the twilight of life to be and serve one’s people, which is the greatest of them all. Chief Iwuanyanwu left an inspiring legacy, which would continue to guide and motivate us towards a united and prosperous Igbo nation.

“We, the members of Association of Ndindu Ndigbo N’Uzo ije  extend our deepest condolences to Ohanaeze Ndigbo national secretariat  and the entire Igbo nation on this irreparable loss. May his soul rest in peace.”

Recall that Chief Iwuanyanwu was the founder of Hardel & Enics, a foremost engineering company, Iwuanyanwu Nationale, a football club, Oriental Airlines, Champion newspapers, among other business ventures.
