Mr. Peter Obi

An Igbo group has thrown its weight behind the Africa Democratic Congress’ (ADC) presidential aspirant,  Peter Obi, citing his exceptional leadership and management skills.

Coordinator, Heroes Foundation and Igbo President Project (IPP), Chinedu Nsofor, highlighted Obi’s impressive track record as the former governor of Anambra State, where he achieved remarkable economic successm despite the state’s limited revenue.

Nsofor, an ex-aide to late Ohanaeze President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, emphasised that Obi’s presidency could be the turning point Nigeria needs, transforming the country from a consumer to a producer nation.

He appealed to Nigerians to support Obi’s candidacy, citing his ability to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges, just as leaders like Liu Kuo-shiung, Frederick Douglass Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy did for their countries.

The declaration of support comes amid concerns about marginalisation of the Igbo community, with some arguing that they have been denied top political positions despite their contributions to the country.

Other Igbo groups, like the Njiko Igbo Forum, are also mobilising.
