Igangan killings: We’re readjusting security architecture in Oyo – Makinde
From Oluseye Ojo, Ibadan
Following the gruesome murder of nine men, one woman and a child in Igangan, in Ibarapa zone of Oyo State, by gunmen suspected to be criminal herdsmen, last Saturday night, Governor Seyi Makinde has reassured the state that his administration is readjusting the security architecture of the state with a view to responding to the current situation of kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality across the state.
He gave the assurance, yesterday, in the ‘State of the State’ address he presented on the second anniversary of the Oyo State Ninth Assembly, held at the parliament chambers, Agodi, Ibadan.
The anniversary, which was presided over by the Speaker, Adebo Ogubdoyin, was also attended by the Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, and top government functionaries as well as the state chairman of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha.
Makinde said: “We are determined to ensure that such an attack will not repeat itself again. For this reason, we are adjusting our security architecture to respond to our current situation.”
Makinde, who noted that in spite of security challenges, his administration has continued to “prioritise the security of our people.
“In the past year, we have operationalised the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed Amotekun. We held the passing out parade of 1,500 corps members and deployed them to all 33 local government areas of Oyo State. We set up a Security Task Force, which meets weekly to assess security threats and proffer solutions that would work for us.
“We have strengthened our security architecture by expanding the operations of the Security Control Room and City Watch facilities at the Oyo State Security Trust Fund Headquarters, Onireke, Jericho, here in Ibadan.
“Right now, we can monitor activities at Mamu Village, on the Oyo/Ogun States border, where we set up a Security Joint Force Base.
“We also supported federal security operatives by providing operational vehicles, communication gadgets, bullet-proof vests and other security equipment to facilitate their work.”
Makinde said his government christened 2020 as the year of continued consolidation, adding: “This is because we continued to build on the gains of our first year in office.
“We have not deviated from our Roadmap to Accelerated Development in Oyo State 2019-2023. And so, our administration has continued to focus on the four pillars: Economy, Education, Healthcare and Security.”
It seems as if Governor Seyi Markinde of Oyo States is not aware of the
followings:
1.That far back in the 1990s, General (Rtd.) Muhammadu Buhari as a
Chairman of MACBAN did threaten and promised the late Governor of
Oyo State, Dr Lam Adesina that one day,his Fulani Herdsmen would kill
those, who would dare deny them their right of passage all over the
country.
2.That according to President Buhari’s erstwhile Minister of Defence,
Brig.General (Rtd) Mansur Muhammad Dan Ali and his Interior Ministry
Counterpart, Lt. General (Rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, both the
Nigerian Armed Forces and the Police are under a standing order from
President Buhari to offer logistics to the Fulani Herdsmen to exercise their
right of passage all over the country, which according to him is guaranteed
them by a gobbledygook ECOWAS Protocol.
3.That President Buhari is the current Grand Patron of the MACBAN.
Thus, Governor Markinde’s plan to readjust security architecture in Oyo
State will never work unless he confronts the man,who is responsible
for the ongoing barbaric, destructive and murderous activities of the
Fulani Herdsmen not only in his Oyo State but also all over the country.
What is happening today is exactly what President Buhari did promise
Governor Lam Adesina some twenty years ago and thus ,the President is
solely responsible for what is going today in the country.
In his unbridled arrogance and bellicosity,President Buhari has gone out his
way to declare his intention to restore in his own words, cattle routes and
grazing areas across the country, inspite of the recent ban on open grazing
by our Southern Governors.
Prior to the ban on open grazing, our Southern Governors did not only stop Buhari’s plan to establish Rugas in all our 36 States, they also schuttled
Buhari’s gobbledygook Water Resource Bill.
Just like Pol Pot Yakubu Gowon’s Decree 8 of 1967,which led to the
secession of our Sovereign Christian Republic of Biafra and the subsequent
Civil War of 1967- 1970, Buhari’s unilateral imposition of cattle routes and
grazing areas in the South is certainly gonna lead to an eventually breakup
of Nigeria and perhaps to yet another civil war.
The President claims to have a support of the South South but what about
the Middle Belt,South East and the South West?
Nigeria We Hail Thee.Lol!
No to the status quo ante bellum!!
Down with Hausa/Fulani Islamic Hegemony!!!
