Igando agog for Prince GAS Cup finals

The much anticipated final of Prince GAS Cup holds today at the Sansan football pitch, Igando, Lagos.

En-route to the final, Bucknor FC defeated Sterling FC 1-0 while Future Stars 99 hammered Igando FC 2-1 to reach the final stage.

In the semi-final of the U15 category, Royal Warriors defeated God Did Foundation 2-1, while Young Tigers defeated Samjaso 3-1 on penalties after a barren draw at the end of regulation time.

Tournament coordinator, Prince Sulaiman Gbadamosi said all is set for the grand finale and commended the participating teams for their performance.

Gbadamosi however frowned over the unruly behaviours of Igando FC in their semi final saying that the attack launched on the match officials by Igando players and fans was uncalled for.

“It was unfortunate that the Igando FC coaching crew led by Jamiu Aberejo, players and fans heavily descended on their match officials for not awarding them a penalty kick. One player of the team confirmed to me that there was no biased officiating throughout the game,” he said.

“This ugly incident almost brought the tourney into disrepute and the disciplinary committee had decided to place the club on suspension until further notice,” he said.

Meanwhile, James Christian of Igando FC is leading the goal scorers sheet with six goals, while Love Taiwo of Royal Warriors is leading with four goals in the U15 category.
