The Chairman of Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Kusimo Idris Olalekan, has called on the Lagos State Government to intervene over the erection of a “Welcome to Lagos State” signpost by Ojodu Local Council Development Area at a disputed location along Yakoyo–Ojodu Road, warning that the action could heighten tension between residents of the neighbouring states.
Olalekan maintained that the affected location around Yakoyo–Isheri Ojodu ward falls within Ogun State’s territorial jurisdiction, urging the Lagos State Government to prevail on the Ojodu council leadership to refrain from actions capable of aggravating the boundary disagreement.
He said the signpost could create confusion among residents and motorists over the territorial limits of the two states, stressing the need for the authorities to resolve the matter through established procedures.
The chairman cited the construction of the road by the administration of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun in support of his position that the disputed location falls within Ifo Local Government Area.
He urged the relevant authorities to address the disagreement and prevent further actions capable of generating tension in the area.
