ICPC withdraws corruption charges against ex-Gov. Jang

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC ) has withdrawn the allegations of corruption and criminal charges against former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly, Jonah Jang, filed at the Plateau State High Court Jos.

Prosecution counsel to ICPC, Adesino Raheem, told Justice Daniel Longji of State High Court, in Jos, that the Commission withdrew the case in view of the fact that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has also filed the same charges against the accused person in the court.

He said that the withdrawal of the case has become necessary in other not to duplicate the charges.

“The ICPC had filed a case before the court accusing former Governor Jonah David Jang for corruption and criminal act which the EFCC have also filed same. We therefore wish to appealed to the Court to withdraw the suit filed by ICPC.”

Justice Daniel Longji, therefore granted the withdrawal of the case by ICPC against the former Governor and Senator representing Plateau North.

“The Prosecution counsel who filed the application has e right to withdraw e application, therefore, the application is hereby stroke out.”
