Imperial College London Alumni Association of Nigeria (ICAAN) has honoured the Technical Assistant to the Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Odiong Ekanem, with an award of recognition for exemplary leadership in public service.

ICAAN Board of Trustees Chairman, Edet Amana, yesterday in Lagos, while delivering his opening remarks, thanked the alumni of the college for remaining great ambassadors of the school, even as he lauded them for their passion, commitment and unwavering dedication to the growth of the Nigerian oil and gas sector and society at large, as evidenced by the recent appointment of four of its alumni into top government positions.

Amana encouraged Ekanem to continue to do his best to uphold the virtues of humility and hard work which Imperial College instills in all its alumni.

Ekanem, who has served in various capacities with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited before being seconded to the Office of the Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas) as technical assistant, thanked the association for finding him worthy of the honour, adding it would spur him to do more.

“I am deeply humbled by this recognition and award. I never knew my modest contributions were being observed, and it challenges me to do more for my organisation and this country that has invested so much in me,” he said.
