President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abuja joined hundreds of Muslim faithful in performing the 2-raka’at Juma’at prayer at the Presidential Villa Mosque.
Among notable faces at the mosque were embattled, actong chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, some cabinet ministers; National Security Adviser Chief, retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno and Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari were among those who joined the president in performing the prayer.
Magu’s re-nomination as substantive chairman of the EFCC was rejected by the Senate via a voice vote at plenary session on Wednesday, after a letter from the Department of State Services (DSS), indicated that he failed another integrity test.
However, Magu said the accusations against him were unfounded, stressing that the DSS did not give him fair hearing before writing to the Senate.
Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Lawal Daura and the Comptroller-General of Customs, retired Hammed Ali, were also at the mosque.
The Senate on Thursday turned back the Comptroller-General (C-G) for not appearing in customs uniform.
Senators by a voice vote directed him to return to the senate on Wednesday, March 22 in proper uniform designated for the office of Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service.
Many worshippers remained behind after the prayer session to catch a glimpse of the president who was at the mosque, since his return from United Kingdom on Friday. (NAN)
