Ibori extols Hon. Oboro’s leadership qualities

A former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, has commended a member representing, Sapele, Okpe, Uvwie Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro, for her outstanding contribution to legislative discourse that enhance the standards of living of her people.

Speaking during a consultative visit of Hon. Oboro to the former governor at his hometown in Oghara,  Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, as part of her ambition to contest the Senate seat come 2019, Ibori noted that the law maker had proved her self worthy in character and intellect since voted into the National Assembly.

According to Ibori, “You have no doubt proven yourself a worthy leader of your people. What is now left is for you to present yourself to the people. And having listen to my Councillor, Chairman and House of Representatives member, I can say that indeed you have grown in the manner you articulated your viewpoints on issues”.

He urged the legislator to continue to make her case tenaciously to the Urhobo people because the Uvwie people are very proud of her. “It is God that gives power, I pray you continue to excel. You have made your constituency and the Urhobo people proud as our first female parliamentarian”, he added.

He said, “I am happy that your campaign is about issues and achievements and not abusive. That is how campaign supposed to be. After eighteen years of democracy, we supposed to deepen and widen our democracy. Make your case to the people, you should go from ward to ward, local government area to local government area and tell the people what you can do. Sincerely from the bottom of my house, I am proud of you”.

In her speech, Hon. Oboro reeled out her empowerment programmes to her constituents which include; over 40 cars, 300 tricycles, grinding machines, sewing machines, generators, barbing kits, hair dressing kits, motor-saws, freezers, free medical care, building and furnishing of health centres and classrooms blocks, street light projects, roads, provision of transformers and among others

Her words, “Having performed excellently, I deserved promotion through election as Delta Central senator come 2019. I am not a politician that gives excuses to people, in all the positions I have occupied I was taken to the tribunal and I came out victorious. I am not that type of politician that will waste your mandate”.

 She noted that the constitution of the PDP made it clear that where there are three persons, one should be a woman, hence, I am offering myself to serve, in order for me to bring the dividends of democracy to the people.

So far there are three (3) contenders in the race for the Delta Central Senatorial district. While Chief Ighoyota Amori of PDP want to return after being removed by the Court of Appeal last year, Hon. Evelyn Oboro, also of PDP presently in the House of Representative is eyeing the position and Olorogun Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who is presenting occupying the position still looking forward to retaining.
