Transition Committee Chairman of Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Emem Ibanga, has been honoured with an excellent award for her impeccable style of leadership in grassroots development.

The award, ‘The Nigeria Leadership Award in Grassroots Development’, organised by the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Logistics, was to showcase the exemplary leadership demonstrated in advancing sustainable and inclusive grassroots development.

The presentation took place in Enugu as part of a two-day regional stakeholders’ summit on local government and rural development from April 25 to 26, 2024.

Expressing her delight, Ibanga said the award has encouraged her to do more in grassroots development, while also thanking the organisers for finding her worthy as a recipient of the award.

Ibanga was elected the first female chairman of Nsit Atai council in 2017.  Since then, she has left no stone unturned in providing the basic amenities for the well-being of her people, some of which include: renovation of the council secretariat, provision of official vehicles to beneficiaries, donation of boreholes to communities, free healthcare/donation of medical equipment, road grading, promotion of small scale business in the area and other social programmes.

Ibanga is a courageous woman and an ardent supporter of good governance.
