The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, has dismissed the Ibadan opposition summit, describing it as a fragile political arrangement built on “sinking ground” and destined to fail.
Dare said the emerging alliance lacks the cohesion and ideological strength required to mount a serious challenge in the 2027 general elections, insisting that its structure is driven more by opportunism than shared political vision.
“The ground upon which the opposition operates is akin to the biblical sinking ground. So, whether they field multiple presidential candidates or a single one, it matters little. It will end in electoral failure,” he said.
He argued that regardless of whether the opposition presents a single presidential candidate or multiple contenders, the outcome would remain unchanged, adding that the coalition was already weakened by internal contradictions.

According to him, the Ibadan summit reflected the fragmentation within opposition ranks rather than a credible political force capable of dislodging the ruling party.

Dare expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s re-election prospects, citing what he described as a record of governance performance and ongoing economic recovery efforts as evidence of public trust in the administration.
“President Tinubu stands on solid ground; a resounding three-year performance that has set Nigeria on the course of recovery and a resilient economy,” he said.
“President Tinubu will secure a second term because he has earned it,” he added.
