The Ibadan Cultural Festival has once again been identified as a critical platform for unity, cultural preservation, and community development, with stakeholders highlighting its growing relevance in fostering cohesion among indigenes.

Hon. Adekunle Ishola (Ojuabere), a House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan North West/South West Federal Constituency, made this assertion while reacting to the successful hosting of the festival by the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII).

In a statement, Ishola noted that, beyond its celebratory essence, the festival continues to serve as a rallying point for sons and daughters of Ibadan across the globe, strengthening shared identity and encouraging collective responsibility towards the development of the ancient city.

He commended the council’s leadership for sustaining a tradition that not only preserves the cultural heritage of Ibadan but also promotes intergenerational engagement and diaspora participation.

Ishola, who is a member of the Ibadan Progressive Association of Australia (IPAA), emphasised that the involvement of diaspora groups has significantly expanded the reach and impact of the festival, making it a global symbol of Ibadan’s cultural pride.

Drawing from his personal background as the son of a former CCII Secretary, the late Chief Gbade Ishola, the aspirant said his commitment to cultural promotion and community advancement is deeply rooted in family legacy and long-standing association with the council.

He further stressed the need to leverage cultural platforms like the Ibadan Cultural Festival to drive youth engagement and socio-economic growth, noting that such initiatives remain essential to sustaining unity and progress in Ibadanland.

While applauding the organisers for a successful outing, Ishola reaffirmed his support for programmes that promote cultural identity and inclusive development across the constituency and beyond.
