Former Chief of Staff to the Imo State Government and governorship hopeful, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, has firmly dismissed rumours of his alleged defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that he remains a loyal member of the ruling party.

Nwosu made this known while revalidating his APC membership during the party’s ongoing e-registration exercise at Eziama Obaire, Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.

Addressing party members and supporters, the APC chieftain called on the people of the area to troop out en masse to register with the party and support it at all levels, stressing the need for political awareness and grassroots participation.

Reacting to claims that he was set to dump the APC for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nwosu described the reports as baseless. He reminded his audience that he is a founding member of the APC and has no intention of abandoning a party he helped to build.

“I will not abandon a house I helped to build,” he declared.

He further affirmed that former Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, and members of the Rescue Mission family remain steadfast in the APC.

The event witnessed the presence of key party leaders and stakeholders, including ward executives, community leaders, the Eze-Elect of Eziama Obaire, and former council chairmen from Nkwerre, Orsu and Isu LGAs, signalling renewed grassroots mobilisation within the party ahead of future political activities in Imo State.
