A top contender for the 2027 Benue South Senatorial District elections, Dr David Olofu, has promised to attract democratic dividends to all the nooks and crannies of the district if given the mandate.

Olofu stated this last Sunday during the continuation of his consultation with critical stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ohimini Local Government chapter.

The senatorial hopeful, who promised that he would not discriminate in his quest for acceleration of the development of the Benue South Senatorial District, said the youths and the women would be the fulcrum of his empowerment schemes.

He said, “I will ensure that a proper institutional framework is put in place to generate adequate job opportunities for young people to pursue their dreams of living a meaningful life. Our youths and women are very intelligent and hardworking but lack opportunities to explore their God-given talents.”

Olofu, who promised that he would not disappoint the people if given the mandate, said, “You will all enjoy my representation, as I will, together with you, attract development projects to uplift and extricate us from the clutches of poverty and underdevelopment.”

He said that he would declare a state of emergency on the need to accelerate the development of the entire Benue South Senatorial District by putting in place pressure groups, the Benue South People’s Assembly and Benue South People’s Council, to work for the advancement of the entire gamut of the senatorial district.

In their separate remarks, an elder statesman, Chief Nicholas Ochojila, Francis Elaigwu, and Odeh Ubah all endorsed the aspiration of Dr Olofu, saying that in view of the fact that Otukpo/Ohimini and Okpokwu/Ogbadibo/Ado Federal Constituencies have over-represented the Senatorial district, the position should, in 2027, move to Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency for the sake of equity, fairness, and justice.

They said that shifting the position to the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency would not only foster inclusivity but would propagate unity, oneness, and love and would also inspire the Igede brothers and sisters that after Apa/Agatu, the Senatorial seat would stream to their areas.

Also speaking, former Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Alhaji Sule Audu, promised that the people of Ohimini LGA would work for the election of Dr David Olofu and entrench the ADC in the polity.

Earlier, the Senatorial hopeful had visited the Anwule-Oglewu community that was recently ensnared by suspected murderous herdsmen and commiserated with the people of the area.

He had donated an undisclosed amount of money to the leadership of the community to help cushion the devastating effects of the attacks and promised that he would mobilise prominent Idoma sons and daughters to put pressure on the Federal Government to end what he described as existential threats to the Idoma Nation.

“We are Nigerians and therefore deserve to be protected by the Federal Government. The continuous killings of our defenceless people by the herdsmen should be condemned by all men of good conscience, including the Federal Government. It is the duty of the federal government to protect us and they must protect us,” he said.

Other speakers, the Anwule-Oglewu community leaders Mathias Cyprian, William Ogah, Onoja Adakole, John Odeh (Youth leader), all expressed appreciation to Dr Olofu for coming to their aid in their moment of grief.
