Dodo Landu, DR Congo’s team manager, stated he was praying during the penalty shootout against Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup playoff final last Sunday.
Landu’s response is directed at Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle, who claimed to have seen someone in the opposing area using voodoo.
Chelle could be seen arguing fiercely with Landu, who was pacing, waving, and whispering along the touchline.

The two sets of officials had to be separated as the Leopards went on to win 4-3.
“During Chancel’s penalty kick, I was praying for him to score,” Landu said, according to Soccerent.
“Immediately, the Nigerian coach thought I was performing voodoo.”
DR Congo will be Africa’s representative at the intercontinental playoffs in March.
