Businessman, Mustapha Audu, and the son of former governor of Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, has said he has come to rescue Kogi people from hunger and starvation.
Mustapha while declaring his intention to contest the November governorship election in the state said he had decided to offer himself to serve the people because he was touched by the level of poverty in the state as the All Progressives Congress-led administration had failed the people.
Mustapha who explained how his father struggled so much to develop the state, regretted that all the legacies he left behind had been plundered and reduced to nothing.
He said the people of the state were tired of hunger, unpaid salaries and frequent suicides by civil servant owing to non-payment of salaries, insisted that Kogi people deserve better treatment.
The aspirant who is contesting on the platform of Young Progressive Party (YPP) said if elected, he would provide employment opportunities for the teeming youths, open the rural areas through massive road construction, and take the state to enviable heights.
He, therefore, called on the people of the state both young and old to join hands with him in salvaging the state.
The occasion which took place at Children’s Amusement Park, Lokoja, was also used by 17 different political parties to adopt the aspirant as their consensus candidate.
