Nigerian dancer and former Big Brother Naija star, Roseline Omokhoa Afije, popularly known as Liquorose, has opened up about her early life, revealing that she once hawked food in the market despite coming from what she describes as an “average but comfortable” family.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview with media personality VJ Adams, Liquorose recounted how her childhood curiosity for business pushed her into petty trading at a very young age.

According to her, her mother ran a movie cassette rental shop at the time, but her older siblings usually prevented her from assisting. Determined to engage in business, she ventured out on her own.

“I hawked food, cooked rice in the market. After school, I would prepare the food, arrange it and carry it on my head to sell. We were not a poor family; I just really loved doing business. I would go to Yaba market, buy Okirika and resell it. I also sold toys. I had money. But the day they found out, they flogged me severely. I was about eight or nine years old,” she recalled.

Reflecting on her growth and evolving interests, Liquorose revealed that if she were to make serious investments in 2025, she would consider the AirBnB or content creation space, highlighting her passion for expanding her creative footprint.

The dancer also spoke candidly about some personal habits she has been working to correct over the years. She admitted that she often ignores phone calls and tends to avoid addressing issues immediately, even when they bother her deeply.

“I can endure things I shouldn’t, just to make someone else happy. Then I go back to my room and cry about it. But since I turned 30, I’ve been working on speaking up. If you mess up, I address it immediately.”

When asked how she handles emotional lows, Liquorose responded: “I cry. Crying relaxes me. I am a crybaby, and I don’t know how to fake tears. When I’m acting and I have to cry, it’s real because that character must have touched me. People don’t believe me when I tell them I am a crybaby. I used to have anger issues. However, I had worked on it before I entered the Big Brother competition. If I hadn’t I wouldn’t have been disqualified from the show. I was very temperamental while growing up.”
