Former Osun State Governor and ex-Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has claimed that he did not own a personal house throughout his eight-year tenure as governor, describing himself as the first Nigerian governor to leave office without acquiring a private residence.
Aregbesola made the assertion while addressing his supporters in a video that surfaced online on Thursday.
According to the former governor, he lived in a friend’s house for the entire period he served as governor of Osun State.
“I’m the first governor in Nigeria to rule a state for eight years without owning a house of my own,” he said.

He challenged anyone disputing his claim to provide evidence that he owns a house.
“I stayed in my friend’s house for eight years as a governor in my father’s land. Whoever says that what I’m saying is not true should come out and show me the house I own.”
Aregbesola governed Osun State between 2010 and 2018 before he was appointed Minister of Interior by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
During his tenure, his administration implemented policies focused on education, healthcare, poverty reduction, job creation, community development and the promotion of peace across the state.
