Digital Transformation expert, Danjuma Audu, has stated that the optimal combination of AI (Artificial Intelligence) with human effort will boost productivity and innovation. This was part of the proceedings at the recent 21st Lagos Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) conference, an annual event that provides a platform for industry leaders to explore the latest trends and best practices in human resource management.

At the event, Audu, who is the President of Digital Transformation at Reliance Infosystems, delivered a presentation on the transformative potential of AI in driving business efficiency and employee engagement. Comparing the potential impact of AI to electricity when it was discovered, he remarked that AI is not merely a technological advancement.

“it is a transformative force that has the potential to revolutionize the way organizations operate, With recent advancements in computing power, data availability, and algorithmic innovation, AI has emerged as a powerful tool for driving business innovation and agility. AI’s influence is already palpable in our daily lives, and its potential to reshape the future is boundless.”

Audu also provided insights into the numerous benefits of AI, arguing that AI will not displace humans but enhance their productivity. According to the digital transformation expert, efficiency and productivity gain are the main drivers for investment in AI.

“Analysts believe that AI would make the knowledge worker to be more productive about four to five times more.  Consequently, increased productivity leads to increased profit for business, increased wages and compensation for the employees, and ultimately, reduced prices leading to global deflation.”

Furthermore, the technology expert explored the impact of AI in driving employee engagement, a process that leads to emotional commitment to an organization. Gallup’s State of the Global Workplace 2023 report puts the cost of low employment engagement at $8.8 trillion, which is approximately 9 percent of the global GDP. According to Audu, AI can reduce this loss significantly.

“Optimal employee engagement serves as an innovation catalyst, productivity driver and competitive advantage enabler. AI can be deployed to enhance these qualities through data-driven insights, predictive analytics and personalized interventions.”

Audu also addressed the ethical considerations surrounding AI adoption, emphasizing the need for organizations to navigate complex ethical challenges with care and consideration. He urged organizations to adopt an ethical framework to guide them through the AI world and ensure responsible AI deployment.

“Ethical considerations are paramount in the adoption of AI technologies,” remarked Audu. “As organizations embrace AI, it is crucial to prioritize transparency, accountability, and fairness to mitigate potential risks and ensure ethical AI deployment.”

To sum it up, the technology guru urged organizations to embrace AI as a tool for augmenting human capabilities and driving organizational success.

“The AI would be part of our life and it would impact every industry. In summary, any business model that fails to embrace AI would be extinct.”

With an MBA from the University of Greenwich, London, Danjuma Audu is a Microsoft 365 Adoption Driver.
