How we spent our long vacation by pupils

Schools have resumed for the 2026/2027 academic session nationwide and pupils have settled down for serious classroom work with the hope of achieving a good performance.

Some of the pupils shared with Daily Sun how they spent their long vacation and how prepared they are for the new academic session.

Christopher David, a JSS 11 pupil of Omole Junior Grammar School, Ogba, Lagos, explained that he enjoyed the long vacation and had enough time to rest as well as good time with his family. According to him, he also enjoyed himself and played with his friends during the long holiday.

He explained that he spent most of his holiday at home, watching movies, playing games and helping out with some house chores and visited some family members.

David disclosed that he is happy to resume school, met his friends and will continue with his studies. The JSS pupil revealed that he is already for the new session.

He hopes to have a good performance in the 2026/2027 academic session.

An SS1 student of Speedway College, Ojodu, Lagos, Precious Ohen, disclosed that he spent good time during the long vacation and also had enough rest from school activities. She said the holiday gave her time to relax and spend more time with her family members.

According to him, he spent the holiday mostly at home, watching movies, reading and spending time with friends as well as used the holiday to learn new things.

Ohen said ahead of the resumption, he looked forward to returning to seeing his classmates and continue with her studies, “I know SS1 will come with more work.”

He explained that he has prepared for the new session with the required educational materials and hoped to do well in the new class.

For Obinna Michael, a Basic 11 pupil of Glorious Beginner Children School, Ojodu, Lagos, revealed that he had a good long holiday, enough time to play with friends and stay at home, adding that during the period he was happy not to wake up early for school every day.

“I spent my holiday playing with my friends, watching cartoons and spending time with my family.”

Obinna expressed delight that as school has resumed, he looked forward to seeing his friends again and also ready to face the new session with high level of seriousness.

He explained that his parents prepared for the new session and purchased new school uniform and other educational items. Obinna revealed that he is excited about moving to Basic 11 and will learn new things.

Obinna Victor Chibike, in Basi 5 in the same school with his younger brother, said he enjoyed the long vacation, had fun and enough rest. The pupil disclosed that he enjoyed and spent time with his family members and friends.

“I spent most of the holiday playing games, watching movies and reading some of my books and helped with some chores at home,” he stated.

The Basic 5 pupils revealed that when school resumed, he met his classmates and learning new subjects and topics.

According to him, ahead of the resumption, he prepared and arranged his books and school materials and hoped to perform better than he did last academic session.
