Commissioner  of Police, Katsina State, Ali Umar Fage, said the command has launched an onslaught against criminals: “We have arrested over 188 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, rescuing 12 victims. I have charged officers to rise up to the task and flush out criminals.

“The command intensified its fight against kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and arms trafficking through intelligence-led operations, inter-agency collaborations and sustained patrols in identified hotspots

“The arrested 188 suspects are linked to 120 reported cases with 98 cases taken to court for prosecution. Operatives arrested a member of the social miscreants terrorising the people, linked to the killing of one Abu Amshi.  We also disrupted two informants and gun-runners’ supply logistics to criminal groups in Jibia and Safana local governments.

“We successfully rescued 12 kidnapped victims. The victims have been medically examined and reunited with their families. We recovered firearms and 30 rustled animals and four motorcycles used for criminal operations. We are strengthened by the leadership of the IGP Olatunji Disu. He has repeatedly expressed his unequivocal stance on professionalism, discipline, respect for the rights and dignity of citizens.

“Officers have been directed to be professional, firm, courteous in the discharge of their duties and imbibe community policing. They are also advised on discipline and integrity as core values that every officer must uphold. Officers should shun corruption and illegal duty. Rather, they should have good relationship with the public and respect fundamental human rights of the citizens.

“I have visited emirs and encouraged them to reinforce security collaboration with police, traditional institutions and all other stakeholders to ensure a safer state.
