How police nabbed three suspected armed robbers, carjackers, recovered guns in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspects, Faruk Rasheed, Olamilekan Ademola, and Abidemi Oluwawemo, said to be members of a notorious armed robbery and carjacking syndicate in the Alakuko area of the state.

The command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi disclosed this in a Thursday statement.

Adebisi said this was part of the command’s sustained efforts to combat armed robbery, carjacking and other violent crimes across the state.

She said operatives of the command, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Rasheed, 20, Ademola, 28, and Oluwawemo, 21, after tracking them down.

Adebisi said, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly specialised in car snatching and robbing innocent citizens of their valuables.

“A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of two (2) locally made pistols loaded with five (5) cartridges and one locally made revolver pistol loaded with three (3) rounds of 9mm live ammunition.

“The suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.”

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of residents across Lagos State.
